DESCRIPTION:

HGL Construction served as the prime contractor on this high-profile design-build renovation project to demolish, repair, renovate and add a new addition to Building 940, Family Support Center, at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. The renovation and alteration of Building 940 created a new Library, Community Activities Center, Air Force Readiness Center and Public Spaces that provided new office spaces, ballroom/auditorium, classrooms, library, meeting room, break room, restrooms, showers/lockers, and storage areas. The project was designed and constructed to meet LEED Silver requirements. This project was issued under an IDIQ multiple award construction contract (MACC) by the Department of the Air Force.

HGL provided all new interior finishes, which involved carpentry, millwork, and masonry. HGL provided walls in a light tan color, hard deck ceilings in a lighter color, and an accent color for specific areas including the clerestory of the Library, portions of the Ballroom and the Classroom located next to the Ballroom, and in the recessed clerestory in the AFRC office area. New tile in the bathrooms and a circular lobby was added, and the floors of the Ballroom and Stage were made from salvaged wood from the existing floor and re-stained for contrast with the darker paneled walls. Major infrastructure components included extensive electrical, communications, security, and instrumentation work to serve the renovated facility. HGL removed existing electrical components and installed new light fixtures, exit lights, wiring, outlets, communication devices, switchboards, panels, etc. HGL ensured that all new electrical modifications complied with AT/FP requirements. Additionally, HGL reconfigured the HVAC systems as required by the new interior layout. HGL provided all mechanical and electrical connections and instrumentation for direct digital controls. HGL reconfigured the plumbing systems as required by the new interior layout to include low-flow and water-conserving fixtures.
